Electric Systems Lab
Electric Systems Lab
Build a Complete EV System Before Building the Full Vehicle
The Electric Systems Lab is an educational tabletop project designed to teach students about the various components included within an electric drivetrain. It provides a safe and approachable format in a space-saving design, enabling teachers to provide students hands-on project-based learning in a lower voltage format.
Students learn technical skills such as wiring, diagnostics, battery systems, electric motors, controller setup, BMS setup, measurements, and safety. They also practice the professional behaviors needed in real technical environments, including teamwork, documentation, communication, verification, role-based collaboration, and structured troubleshooting.Â
Designed for 4 to 6 students per build, the lab gives schools a safe, repeatable way to teach complex EV systems before students move into full vehicle capstones like the DC/72v or PM/96v Switch Lab EV. It is a strong fit for CTE, STEM, automotive, engineering, electronics, renewable energy, and technical education programs.
