At Switch Vehicles, we are huge fans of electric vehicles. All that is going on globally shows that electric cars are here to stay and that many careers will flourish in this industry. We believe that hands-on training with electric vehicles will give young minds many career advantages.
Are you worried about your kids and their ability to get a good-paying job that will support them and their families? If the answer is yes, we feel you. Gone are the days where a career as a lawyer or a doctor is a sure win. Here are a few reasons why we believe that EV training creates career advantages for middle-schoolers, high-schoolers, and college students who go through our Switch Labs EV training:
EV training inspires leaders
When we train students how to assemble our electric vehicles, we do it in teams. Together, the kids work as a unit to complete the project. Each person within the group is encouraged to exercise their leadership skills, which makes for soft skill development they will need in a real-world work setting.
Team-based learning
When students work in teams, they learn that none of us are as smart as all of us. As we put our problem-solving skills together, we find that teamwork creates solutions faster. We also find the students remember what they learned on a deeper level because of the team-based learning environment.
Real-world technical applications
Technology is constantly evolving, and that includes automotive technology. As we move away from gasoline-powered engines to electric vehicles, the people who get hands-on training are going to learn state-of-the-art, real-world technical applications. Gone are the days of the “grease monkey.” Hello to the cars of the future: electric vehicles!
21st Century career skills
Because technology is evolving so rapidly in the automotive industry, today’s technicians need to be tech-savvy. Modern vehicles can already be called “a computer network on four wheels.” Now that we’re heading more into electric vehicles, the technician of the future MUST have 21st Century career skills if they are going to remain relevant.
Project management experience
To properly assemble these EVs, the students learn project management skills and planning. As a result, they gain experience in completing a project from start to finish. Not only does this help give them career experience, but it also boosts their confidence and problem-solving skills.
More profound knowledge of systems and processes
Switch Vehicles are composed of many systems (engine, transmission, brakes, steering, etc.) that need to be put together and operate flawlessly. Systems and processes are necessary for successful businesses if they want to grow and remain profitable. By working on these EV assembly kits, the students gain hands-on experience when implementing various systems and processes.
The future of automotive technical education looks bright, and Switch Vehicles Inc. is here to support its growth. At Switch Vehicles, we manufacture a fun, sporty, and safe Electric Vehicle created as a “build-it-yourself” kit for education. Our all-inclusive program is called The Switch Lab™ – which challenges students to build a full-size, road-worthy electric vehicle as a classroom project. Used in high schools, colleges, and junior high schools across the US, the program delivers high-quality project-based learning with real-world experience and impact. Founded in 2013, we practice what we teach with EV Kits manufactured in our Sebastopol, CA, shop.
Our reusable EV Kit is an ideal project that teaches students how to work with their hands, solve problems, learn about systems, and gain experience in cutting-edge automotive technology. To learn more about how Switch Vehicles can benefit your school, contact us today.
